When you're ready to position the outriggers into their pre-deployment positions, step one is pulling the outrigger deployment pin out of its stored position hole and leaving it in its stowage ring. Do this for all four outriggers.
To deploy the outriggers, place the SPYDERCRANE® into outrigger mode. Push the crane/travel switch to "crane." The SPYDERCRANE will automatically default to outrigger mode.
Then pre-deploy the outriggers. The outriggers are nested, with one and four on the outside and two and three on the inside. So, set outriggers one and four to EXT and two and three to neutral. Then push the deployment order switch until the position lamp indicator is lit up. Then pull the outrigger control lever until outriggers one and four are fully pre-deployed.

…positions. Your next step will be to horizontally extend the outriggers. You can extend all four simultaneously or one at a time. To extend them all at the same time, set the outrigger control switches for outriggers one through four to EXT, then push the deployment order toggle until the horizontal lamp lights up. Then pull the outrigger control lever to extend the outriggers to the desired length.
With the outriggers set to the desired horizontal length, set the deployment order toggle to vertical, then pull the outrigger control lever to lower the outriggers onto the ground. Continue to lower the outriggers until all four are grounded and the crawler tracks are off the ground.
When all four outriggers contact the ground, the ground contact indicators will light up, closing a circuit which will begin powering up the LMI. There's going to be a momentary alarm in between the LMI powering up and starting its boot sequence. While the LMI is booting, you can now level the SPYDERCRANE by extending and retracting pairs of outriggers.
I've got four ground contact indicators telling me that all four outriggers are grounded, but I still need to dismount and confirm that the crawler tracks are completely off the ground. Once that's done, switch the crane/outrigger toggle to "crane."
Outrigger Redeployment Back to Travel Mode
With the upper works stored, set the crane/outrigger switch to "outrigger." Toggle the deployment order switch until the vertical indicator is lit up, then set outrigger control switches one through four to RET. Then pull the outrigger control lever until the outriggers are raised completely horizontal. Once the outriggers are off the ground, the load moment indicator will turn off. Continue until the outriggers are completely horizontal and hit their stops.
Once that's done, push the deployment order indicator until the horizontal lamp is lit. With the outrigger control switches already on RET, simply pull back on the outrigger control lever until the outriggers are fully retracted.
With the outriggers vertically and horizontally retracted, you now need to reposition them from their pre-deployment positions to their travel positions. So, push the deployment order indicator until the positioning light turns on. After you've taken the outrigger deployment pins out of the pre-deploy position holes and into their stowage rings, and with the deployment order indicator position lamp lit up, set outriggers two and three to retract and leave one and four in neutral. Then pull the outrigger control lever until outriggers two and three are fully stored.
[Music]
Once outriggers two and three are fully stored, neutralize those two outriggers, set outriggers one and four to retract, and repeat. Once outriggers one and four are in their stored positions, push the crane/travel switch to "travel," then pull the outrigger deployment pins out of their stowage rings and into the stored holes for the outriggers.
