In this segment, we're going to cover how to deploy the outriggers of your 300 or 500 Series SPYDERCRANE®. Today we're going to be using a 375 Scamp 2, but the procedures are the same for any SPYDERCRANE in the 300/500 Series except for the -T models.
Deploying the outriggers is actually done in two phases. The first is pre-deployment. In pre-deployment, we're going to swing the outriggers out of their stored position and into their pre-deployed position, and then lock them in place. You'll notice that outriggers four and one are actually on the outside of outriggers two and three, so these have to be pre-deployed first.
To pre-deploy the outrigger, pull the outrigger deployment pin, grab the outrigger by its handle, and swing it until it lines up with the deployment position hole. When the outrigger is swung into place, drop the pin. That outrigger is now pre-deployed. Then repeat the procedure for the remaining three outriggers, like so.
So, to pre-deploy the outrigger: pull the deployment pin out of its stored position hole, rotate the entire outrigger to its deployed position, and then drop the pin through the deployed position hole. When all four deployment pins are dropped through their deployed position holes, you're going to close a circuit that will enable the SPYDERCRANE to go into crane or outrigger mode.

Your SPYDERCRANE will always default to crane mode. Once your SPYDERCRANE is in crane mode, confirm that you have five green lights on your deployment monitor. The middle green light refers to your stored boom. The exterior four green lights each refer to a specific outrigger — one, two, three, and four.
Pins have been set. Now you need to switch your SPYDERCRANE into outrigger mode. That's done on the left side of your forward console. To place your SPYDERCRANE into outrigger mode, push the crane/outrigger switch up into "outrigger."
[Machine: "Outrigger mode." "Outrigger moving."]
Then you must select a deployment order for the outriggers. If you want to extend them, select horizontal.

[Machine: "Change control mode." "Change control mode."]
With the horizontal deployment order selected, select "extend" on all four outrigger control switches. Once you've selected "extend" on all four outrigger control switches, pull back on the outrigger control lever to actually deploy the outriggers.
[Music]
Your outriggers have three length settings. When the outrigger extension is fully retracted, it's in the not-extended, or "not X," length setting. When you command an outrigger out, if you see only one white dot, the outrigger is half extended, or "half X." If you continue to extend, when the outrigger hits its stop you'll see two white dots, indicating that that outrigger is in its max extended, or "max X," setting.
The load moment indicator of your crane will always default to your shortest outrigger, so make sure that if you're using a max X setting, all four outriggers are fully extended.
Once you've extended the outriggers to the desired length setting, switch to the vertical deployment order and then pull the outrigger control lever again.
[Machine: "Change control mode."]
Pull the lever until the outriggers strike the ground and lift the SPYDERCRANE up. With all four outriggers on the ground and the crawler tracks off the ground, your next step is going to be to level the SPYDERCRANE. The maximum out-of-level I can be and still conduct safe operations is if the air bubble is halfway out of the one-degree ring of your bubble level.
Once you've deployed the outriggers of your SPYDERCRANE and you have confirmed that, one, all four outriggers are on the ground; two, the crawler tracks are completely off the ground; and three, the SPYDERCRANE is leveled to within one half of one degree — the final step is to switch the crane/outrigger switch to "crane."
